SYSSEC Group Leader Lucas Davi has been awarded with the SIGSAC Doctoral Dissertation Award 2016

SYSSEC research group leader Dr. Lucas Davi has been awarded with the "SIGSAC Doctoral Dissertation Award for Outstanding PhD Thesis in Computer and Information Security" in Vienna at ACM CCS 2016. His dissertation on "Code-Reuse Attacks and Defenses" presents new countermeasures against modern software exploits that build on the principle of re-using existing code. These attacks exploit memory errors and program bugs to induce arbitrary malicious program actions by simply combining benign code sequences. As such, these attacks do not require injection of malicious code. The dissertation is available here.
